Quote: I've been giving my Grandkids (four and two Greatgrand son's) birthyear Silver Eagles. Couldn't find any silver dollars for 79 and 80 had to give my daughter in-law and son Morgans. How about a dated 1 oz silver bar with their names engraved? Another option is a Maundy Set (if you don't mind looking outside the US).

Quote:Were you expecting it in a TPG holder? I expected it to be in a small baggie like the other Gem Proofs I have ordered from the same vendor. I'm trying to keep all three collections identical.

GLB49 - You're confusing with your terms.
Gem is a quality or grade of a coin, not the packaging

Quote: Gem is a quality or grade of a coin, not the packaging Yes, I'm very aware of that. I have three individual collections and I want them to be identical in every way.

What a beautiful Ike dollar. Right around the time the Mint perfected the proof minting process and Deep Cameo strikes became the norm.
