They must have known your birth was super important because the Ike for that year was only available in the Mint Sets!

They also introduced a fifth Ike for that year... the Cu-Ni clad proof! Meanwhile... People born in '76 were the luckiest with eight. Those born in '77 and '78 were robbed of silver.

I like your style Quote: The 1973 issue was struck in honor of my birth. Quote: Those born in '77 and '78 were robbed of silver. I've been giving my Grandkids (four and two Greatgrand son's) birthyear Silver Eagles. Couldn't find any silver dollars for 79 and 80 had to give my daughter in-law and son Morgans.

Quote: But 1979 missed the party entirely Just as I did in '69. Quote: I've been giving my Grandkids (four and two Greatgrand son's) birthyear Silver Eagles. Couldn't find any silver dollars for 79 and 80 had to give my daughter in-law and son Morgans. Very nice! Quote: This was supposed to be Gem Proof but I received OGP Proof instead. Still looks gem to me.

Quote: Still looks gem to me. I assume the vendor was out of Gem Proof and substituted OGP which is fine with me.

Gem is just a description (high MS or proof), does not really matter what holder the coin is in. Were you expecting it in a TPG holder? If so, then they would sell with the assigned grade (e.g. PR69DCAM).
