This proof, although the plastic case makes it look spotted, scratched, and ugly, is developing some nice blue and champagn e toning

I picked this up yesterday, from a bargain box. $6.00. I broke it out of the mint holder, and dipped it. It is not perfect, but a 1973 S silver proof for six bucks, I could not say no. (it was really bad looking in the holder, and the holder was cracked.)

They are not 90% silver, they are 40% silver clad (Outer layers of 80% silver and 20% copper bonded to and inner core of 20.9% silver and 79.1% copper). For 1971 and 1972, all Eisenhower dollar proofs are 40% silver clad. For 1973, 1974, and 1976, Eisenhower dollar proofs came in both Cu-Ni clad and 40% silver clad versions. For 1977 and 1978, all Eisenhower dollar proofs are Cu-Ni clad.

Scored one more "talon head" at my coin club meeting on Monday night (paid $1.10). Also in my bank cashing a check today and asked if they had any Eisenhower dollars; the teller asked is that those real large dollars to which I replied yes. Someone had turned in 45 just about an hour earlier. I got them all. Haven't had a chance to look closely at the yet for varieties. Should get to that tomorrow night. Will post any neat finds. "I Like Ike!"
