There is a very early copper coin posted on coppercoins.com, and I'm curious as to what it is. It mighr be a Victoria, and it might not. Any ideas? Thanks for looking. Dick

Yes: Go to coppercoins.com. Look in the early copper section. I beleve it is an early coin known as the "cartwheel". The size was not mentioned, but from the image.... Dick

I am not seeing it either. There are several sections that I cannot select, none are early copper. Oh, are you talking about in their forums?

I assume you mean this thread on the coppercoins forum? The size has been posted since you posted here, and at about 25mm it's way too small for a cartwheel. It'll be a British halfpenny, and with a left-facing portrait I believe the best match is George II. Click on Tony Clayton's halfpenny page and scroll down to the George II section; I believe the "elder portrait" (1740-1754) matches best.

SAP, you hit it dead on!. tyat is the one I was trying to provide. The other one that was asked about, by Castor, is a "cartwheel'. But it is not the one I wanted to show. This will show just how little I know, about "navigating"! Now for a better set of directions: Notice all the above, will take you to one, or the other of two forums: One is coppercoins.com, a 'free" forus, dedicated to the US cent, lincolns, primarilu. it has several sub forums, by various names, One by name is World copper, another FE&IHC cents, etc. the other SNAZ's new forumCanadiancoppercoins.com. It will cover the large, and small cents from Canada, and predicimal coinage. In the case od the Canadian coins, the knowledge is there, and readily available, particularily in varieties. On coppercoins.com, the US lincoln forum, you will findd a data base of photos of the different varieties, that stands out above all others. If you havemn't been there, it is well worth your time! I hope I answered everyones questions. Yes the coin I indicated, was sized at about the size of one of the new "dollard". Bigger than a quarter, but smaller than a half-dollar. , about an inch, and 1/16" dia. The "cartwheel is 36 MM wide. Castor, I was surprised, and pleased to see you here in the inglis-speaking forum. I haven't been there in the other forum for some time, due to a change in my sollecting concentration. Dick
