I bought this coin in a shop today, and after doing a little bit of research I've found out that it's an 1986 Austrian remake of a 1486 Guldiner coin. However, of all the pictures I've seen I haven't seen any with the Chinese script on the coin, and that's throwing me off. Also on the edge of the coin it is inscribed, BRIXLEGGER AUSBEUTE with a symbol of crossed hammers or something. There is also in a different font an encircled letter A and 900 on the edge. I was just wondering if this meant anything. Thanks.

This is not a coin, it's what is known as a fantasy piece and could have been issued for a coin show in 1986. The characters on the left appear to be Japanese and problem name the show.

Thanks. Any idea of what the 900 on the edge would signify? It's in a plain-jane arial looking font. I tried to get it in the pic but it didn't come out too well. It's different from the rest of the wording on the edge.

It might mean that it's .900 silver.

After looking around at Japanese character pages for several hours, I've figured out that the characters mean "World's First Dollar Coin".

echizento thanks for your help.

Seems that those were made in different versions for different markets. This PDF file http://www.uibk.ac.at/downloads/c71...7/hammer.pdf shows, at the top of the second page, the very same piece (same year, same design, same inscription ... except those words are in German: ERSTER TALER DER WELT.
