Got first strap with BEP band still on. All bills are sequential. There is a radar and binary inside. Is it more valuable/collectable to save strapped, or to simply pull the radar and binary out and have them graded?

I'm perhaps confused by your photo ....... have to assume that the two bills you show are the reported Radar and Binary notes?

Granted that I am new at this ..... but neither of those are a Radar or Binary notes as I understand the definitions:

Radar Note .... reads the same beginning-to-end or end-to beginning ... ie ... mirror image serial number.

Binary Note ... uses only two digits (in any order).

Sooooo ... based on your photo ...

Serial # 11444401 ....

Not a Radar since the 7th digit is a '0' and would need to be a '1'.

Not a Binary since there are 4 separate digits in play here.

Serial # 11444500 ....

Not a Radar because of all those trailing zeros.

Not a Binary since there are 4 separate digits in play here.

I'm willing to have an expert correct me ..... but those look to me like close but not quite what you think.

OK .... thats sounds reasonable.

So why not just show the photo of the bill in question?

Thank you lafaa. Nickel, I'm not showing the radar and binary because I didn't break the strap... Before I do I want to know if it's better to keep them in the strap in uncirulated condition, or to open the strap, pull the bills and have them graded... Inside there is the binary radar of 11444411, and a binary of 11444444.

Thanks to both of you for the explanation!

I told you up front that I am still learning about this .... now I understand the photo and the 'hidden bills' inside the bands.

Seems like you have a great find and fun choice ahead of you.

Let us know what you choose to do ..... and show some photos of the final bills!

Best

David

Nice find!

There are more than two valuable notes in your stack. I count at least four:

11444411 - binary, radar
11444414 - binary
11444441 - binary
11444444 - binary, six of a kind

I don't find anything _too_ exciting in the second pack, but 11444555 may be a keeper. I think the added 5 ruins the collectability of 11444511 or 11444544.

I recommend spending time researching completed auctions on ebay (you will need to be logged in to do this) to get a fair idea of price. If you are new to ebay or uncomfortable selling there, I would consider selling to a currency dealer. You can find several on ebay or on coin/currency message boards.

I personally would not crack the pack open until negotiating with a buyer or dealer.

I agree there was nothing special in the second strap, redeposited into bank. Thanks for pointing out the other binary's. Haven't touched them since I took the pic, don't wanna damage any, curious if there are any stars or errors though...

Wouldn't it be possible for some to be star notes or do they always fun in a series as well?

Bvalania,

Say hello to a sibling of your's 4411 1144
I have the entire 1K and plan to get into it tonight. If anyone see any number combos please chime in. I plan on holding back 4411 1101 to 4411 1200.
The rest will have trinary's 4411 1222 etc.
The 100 staring with 4411 1401 will have binary's again (not sure if it's worth holding back 100)

First-Strap-From-Bep,-Radar-And-Binary-Inside

Peace

I took these notes out after picking up the stack prior to yesterdays one today. Below are 2 sets of numbers when both bricks are combined.

Which set do you prefer? (Informal survey) Thanks

Set 1
4411 0001
4411 0011
4411 0111
4411 1111

Set 2
4411 1000
4411 1100
4411 1110
4411 1111

4411 1111 is shared by both. Today set contained 4411 0011, 22 etc to 99 (quad pairs).
Peace
