I work construction and when we built the new basketball arena at the University of Missouri they were preparing the court area to be poured in concrete so they could lay the hardwood flooring down.
The day of the pour I went to the benchmark showing the center of the court. I split the plastic and placed a quarter heads up facing the tigers home basket, as close to the benchmark as I could. Taped the plastic back up and walked away.
I wasn't in to coin collecting back then so it was just a quarter I pulled from my pocket. But everytime I see the Tigers playing at home I think of that coin.

I have seen many old large cents like this. You know they are old holes because the hole is square when they used the square nails. I have seen other denominations like this as well but seems there are more Large cents than anything I guess because it was small denomination and was also kind of a large coin

We actually watched the game at work. Talk about lost productivity! And a disappointment. Well, not for the lone Missouri grad (although his daughter will be starting at Clemson next year).

When I did some renovations on my old house (built before 1900) I found an old beer bottle in the wall. It was collectible so I gave it to my friend who collects them. I replaced it with a empty bottle of killian red I happen to be drinking at the time. Also some of the floors were lined with old newspaper from the 1920's, very cool to see all the girls in their roaring 20's outfits.Stll looking for a nice coin though.

Just finished a patch on my front sidewalk. Nothing big but about a foot long and six inches wide area I had to break out due to crumbling. So thinking of this topic on this forum, before I mixed the concrete, I dumped 10 pennies into the hole. Sure wonder what someone will say in about 100 years.

I live in Colorado and it seems I am always planting trees as weather/wind breaks. I always throw in a few modern coins, bottles, toys, etc.... just for fun. I figure when we humans are all dead and gone the aliens will dig this all up and say look at these humans, they worshiped trees with relics, etc..... just to mess with them!

Now this topic has me thinking. In downtown Chicago there is a multileveled street called Wacker Drive. Back in 2001, 2002 and 2003 about half of it was reconstructed. I was on the Engineering of the second half which is now just going on. If your familiar with Chicago, the second half is running right past what USED to be called Sears towers, now Willis Towers. Think I'll mention this placing of coins in concrete to the construction people.

This is neat as heck. I think when I have a dream home built, I'm going to have a secret compartment built just so I can drop in a lucky silver proof from the year of construction ;-)
Maybe a note too, like, "Dear Sir, you have found this coin and I hope you like it. Sell it, but donate half the value to charity. I'm watching from above!"

I dont see how losing or placing money somewhere will bring you more money .
Money in walls, inside door jams, under concrete slabs, throwing a penny in a wishing well, tossing a coin in the ocean before boating ....all ....SOUNDS like a waste of money .
Then the ol find and penny heads/tails up good/bad luck thing.Just pick up the penny it could be a rare date or dd error
Want to have more money ? Try keeping your money
