This is an opportunity that I would not hesitate on at all. One of them would definitely fill the hole in my Dansco.

The other I would keep in the slab. Yeah, I said it. There is a first time for everything!

upon doublechecking with the dealer he is asking $975 per coin not the amount I stated earlier. I got to thinking that that was quite a bit off the book.

hemisboats: ...serious collectors are in trouble...

There's definitely been more selling of Morgans in the past year.

Denver is a big Morgan market, so I see stuff like the 1881/1885 CC's,
1893-95 Phillies, etc. in dealer's cases regularly.

The coin I've been keeping my eye on is the 1893-S. More of them have
been showing up at local dealers, anywhere from AG-3 to VF-30 grades.

The fact that I saw three slabbed VF 1893-S'es at local dealers in
the past year (2009) would suggest that they were from long-term
collections being dispersed. The good news is that all of the '93-S'es
(regardless of grade) have been selling very quickly, so the money
is still out there for them. Every '93-S I've seen in a case was
sold in a week or two....

Is that asking price for you as a regular, or is that the price to anyone that walks in the shop? Earlier you said he had prices of $1100 and $1150 on them, with your prices as a regular much much lower so maybe some clarification is needed here. Thanks. :)
