I am moving soon and I really want to get a large safe for home to keep all of my collection safe from theft and fire and all of that.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what size is typically a good size to use? I know everyone's collection is a little different, but I'm just looking for a general idea of where to start looking.

Also is there any brand that anyone prefers?

Any kind of advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I like Sentry brand myself. As for size? Find the size you think you need and then go 2 sizes bigger. If you are like me your collection grows at a steady rate.
Rest in Peace

Tim is exactly right! Get the largest one you can afford/fit in your situation. It will fill fast, and then you will have to decide who is precious enough to "live" inside and who remains on the shelf. Mine is too small.

Yeah so is mine. I am lucky that I get a free safe deposit box at two of the banks I do business with.

Tim. Just a bit of advise in your case.Be sure that someone else in your family knows where they are in case something happens to you,God forbid. My Father did the same with his collection and it took a couple of years to find it all because he didn't leave any info.

Consider a metal upright gun safe, gut it and install shelving. Some of the larger safes might require strengthening the floor in order to support the concentrated weight.

Sentry safes are great. Try and look for one rated to withstand heat temperatures of atleast 2500 F.

I use to have a safe deposit box, but the bank that I work for now, we don't have safe deposit boxes in our branch. lol it's great that we don't have them until I need it for something personal :)
