The Mint shows the Specimen set with a regular Loonie, yet the individual coin displays the Northern Harrier (available on the regular Specimen set).

This year's Specimen finish looks like it was grit blasted. A definite step in the wrong direction IMO.

Force,
Is this for real? The specimen set I've seen has a regular twoonie.
I like the tiny polar bear and date on the reverse.
If real, I'd like to see the obverse.

I believe there are 2 different speciman sets for this year. I don't think this one has been released just yet but very soon.

So are you on a mint mailing list or the masters thingy? - that sends you pre-release order info?
I always like it when they move the date to the other side for a one-off because there is always an opportunity for a screw-up mule-wise.

Great another set, I have collected the spec sets with the loon and I hate having to shell out for that, don't think I will bite on this one.

MrCanada,
Did you receive the 2010 specimen set yet? What's your thought on the finish?

I'm kind of disappointed in this as well. I bought the first specimen set as well and after I received it I saw this one come out. I'm not buying another set just for this one coin.

(The specimen set does look a little rough but I kinda like it.)

If the mint ever intends to make a $2 coin prettier than the Nunavut, they are going to have to work a lot harder than that.

I like the design.

But I'm not buying a set just to have this special coin
