I have 12 pounds of these coins and was curouis what the future value of them might be if/when silver goes down in value.

Does the value continue to follow the price of silver up/down or might there be additional collector's value 10-20 years from now that would keep the halves at about the same value as they are today (should silver spot prices collapse)?

I would think that they would follow the spot prices. So many 1964's were minted, I think close to as many franklins were minted in there whole run (someone correct me on that if I am wrong, I read it somewhere). In reality it is a common coin that I predict will never carry much premium, if any, over bullion for the foreseable future. Common coins will always be common coins.

Until 2064, I completely agree. Otherwise, in other news, there are some that predict silver could go as high as $50/oz in 2011. The logic was plausible. That notwithstanding, I think silver value will continue to rise.

Common date/common condition (circulated) Franklins and 64 Kennedys will follow spot prices. Key dates/mint marks and high grade examples remain immune to this fluctuation for the most part. I've paid just over spot for these for the last 30 years. I prefer to buy low and sell high.

Well I don't plan on living until 1964

I like msnbc's Jim Cramer slogan of "bulls make money, bears make money, and hogs get slaughtered".

Is it realistic that silver doubles still before it's inevitable decline again or have we pretty much hit the top? I hate to be a "hog" but don't want to miss out on a substantial additional profit if the odds are good.

thanks
