I got so frustrated with pages not opening yesterday that I finally gave up...............is the forum running slowly for everyone or just from my server?

Normally, topics open up in less than a second. Yesterday, it was taking minutes.

Bobby and Rui are aware of the problem and have been troubleshooting in recent days, trying to find the source.

likely too many sockets open on the DB. We've all been feeling this.

I wonder if it happens most during those times when the site is being heavily crawled, especially by spiders like Baidu Image Spider and Yandex. They tend to open way, way too many links at once on image heavy sites.

I've banned their IP blocks since they ignore robots.txt

It seems to be running normally today, so far. Yesterday we had to reboot the database server but since then things seem to be normal, so far.

Ugly that's been handled for years now. I don't flat out ban them, I send them right back to their own home page as soon as they try to open a session. Amazing how fast they stop when it's their own bandwidth their burning.

It's been running fine for me today though just as Rui says.

I have timed out a couple of times today but it seems to be sporadic. 63.67 seconds to rattle this change.

I keep getting this:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'

[MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver]Too many connections

/forum/inc_header.asp, line 135

If I wait a few minutes and try again, it eventually clears up. Been going on for a few days.
