Need a poll to help me find out what is best for storage. Right now I am using Artite Direct for my Morgans but they roll around and are hard to store or display. Was thinking about 2x2's from Intercept direct. Could then buy 2x2 tray holders and or box. Keeping my Airtites in a cedar box right now with dessicant.

Little help please.

Thanks in advance

I have a similar dilemma , most of my sets are in Guard master/ Uni, not bad , but some of the keys are pretty valuable. Would prefer capsules but they are hard to contain when displaying sets.Trays are good like Lighthouse products , but hard to title.
How many 2x2 holders in a tray.

I was curious about the Airtite and Intercept shield 2x2's, How do you like the Airtite holders? Right now I have about 10 Mid grade Morgan Dollars/ 15 Mid Franklin Halfs in cardboard 2x2's and was wondering if the cardboard 2x2's are good for long term storage?

My collection goes on two sets.
1. I use 2x2 Mylar (cardboard type) to be stored on an album for common coins may it be gold/silver/bronze/aluminum or nickel ones. This type of storage tones your coins over time, maybe 2 years or more depending on the climate / humidity factor of the area where you live.
2. I also use Air-tites (world coins slab type) This is the type that looks very near with PCGS slab. You can easily place these ones together with graded coins to slab holders / boxes.
If you are investing on Rarities, I would recommend the use of Air-tites both for a nice presentation and protection of the coins as well. You can easily place markings/titles on the coins obverse and reverse sides.
I have a problem with regard to direct fit coin holders because of the space gap between the diameter size of coins vs. the actual diameter of direct fit holders. The 1828 Manila counterstamp for example do not have the same diameter with each one. Because their sizes depends on how each coin was hammered during prepation for stamping. Thus direct fit holders will not be feasible on these coins.
However, what matters most in the type of our coin storage, is how we appreciate and enjoy most of our time looking on our borrowed numismatic items to be passed on to the next generation and generations to come

Well thanks for the info, I will be purchasing some airtites within the next couple of days. I'm also thinking of picking up some intercept shield 2x2 storage boxes. Whats your thoughts on those? Thanks for the help.

Well, unless they're worth 10's of thousands of dollars and you plan on handling them roughly, plain old 2x2 flip cardboard works fine. I've had a collection of very valuable Morgans since the early 1970's and 2x2s are fine with me. Half of them are BU condition. Before I owned them, someone else did for about 100 years, and who knows how or what they were kept in then. Plus, you can then take them out easily and carefully hold them and look at them. Nothing in my collection looks any different or has shown any wear or deterioration. Just keep them away from water or chemicals..... NO FOOLIN'..... Modern collectors are way too sold on the new expensive junk sold to collectors.
