I've never sold on ebay, but I've bought a bunch of coins. I figured it was just a matter of time before I offered some myself, but this thread and others give me pause. But perhaps we'll have an alternative to paypal one of these days: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060627...ayments_dc_1

no matter how many other alternatives we have if they dont protect the seller against charge backs then it will just be another avenue for scammers to use like they are using paypal

That is a seller's worst nightmare...that's why I rarely use ebay for buying or selling. If google can come up with a really good fraud protection program, then paypal is out of business.

I agree what that 100% if they can come up with a true "seller protection" plan then paypal will either have to change their policies or go under quick because sellers are not going to keep taking the risk like they are now with paypal. The time is definately right for a "good" payment site to start up with all the bad publicity that paypal has been getting the past few months, I just hope Google has studied the paypal layout and has a idea on how to improve on the things that needs attention

This happened to me in a much smaller way...paypal have no morals and is one of the unsafest ways to accept a payment. If you take any other form of payment you can protect yourself by asking the buyer security questions....with paypal they are supposed to do that for you...the thing I say is supposed to!!!!!

It's really sad to hear this. Makes me wonder if I should continue to use PayPal. It's just so much easier, especially for international buying/selling plus its faster than waiting for a money order.

Man I tell ya, after reading G&RC post regarding the dvd store I am real angry and concerned now about taking ANY kind of payment in any way shape or form from PeePee. Also reading what has happened to bigfella has me fuming. It's not just with PayPee mind ya, they have been confiscating funds from accounts for years, even before ebay bought them. It looks like though it is now out of hand. They have opened a BIG door for scammers using credit cards, which I mentioned on another post--& like was posted here, there is no way TO SEE how peepal has received payment for your goods so the seller HAS THE OPTION OR can REJECT payment VIA CREDIT CARD. Right now because of this post, and what has happened to BF, & the post above, unfortunately I will NO longer except payment from peepee. IN fact I am seriously considerining CLOSING my PayPal account. Remember, THEY have access to YOUR BANK account if your a confirmed user. Granted in my case it is only my checking account BUT after reading this post I am angry!! This IS my primary checking account that my wife and I use to PAY OUR BILLS!! We have direct deposits setup-- This was my only concern when I signed up with PP, the fact that they can take money from my account--BUT I was always under the impression that I WAS THE ONE WHO RELEASED THE FUNDS!! Now, I see that they can take my money "WITHOUT MY PERMISSION"!! That my fellow friends is extremely scary!! For now I propose for our forum member(s)that are as angry about this as I am, IF you will join me, that we join together and pick a "date" and a "time" whereas we ALL cancell out Paypal account in protest over the lack of seller protections!! AT THE SAME TIME!!--Who will join me in this crusade? In that way we can tell paypal and ebay this>>>>>>>>>>>> UP YOURS PAYPAL!! CiScO

I have gone to the Commonwealth Banking Ombudsman to solve my dispute and also to the Australian Comsumer Protection Commission about Paypal falsly advertising a safe and secure method of receiving payment and their lack of seller protection against chargembacks that they advertise.
If you have similar Government Bodies in the USA I suggest a complaint to them.
