I love the 1918-s. The 1923 is decent too and is interesting because the date looks very strong to me compared to the remaining details for this type.

I like them both, and believe I also considered the same 1918-S, but veered away due to the scratches on the obverse. Still a very nice coin. I agree on the strong date on the 1923 as compared to the other details. I purchased a 23 for nearly the same reasons, 4 strong numbers, but alot of rub on the rest of the coin, but got it for $12 which I thought was a steal.

Thanks! There aren't any prevalent scratches on the obverse, but there are a few old scratches on the reverse. I say old because they have been completely toned over, so they aren't all that obvious in hand, though they are clear in the blown up pics.

My mistake - I meant reverse. I went back and looked - it was a different 18-s - the scratches were on the left wing and breast.

You do a great job of presenting photos here - I have to figure that out, as my photos are awful.

I've seen quite a few 23-S's for sale lately on the bay......none in my $$ ballpark though.

Good luck with the set.

Thanks. My setup is pretty simple with a run of the mill $150 digital camera and I alternate between natural light, or a single source incadescent 60 watt light bulb. I also use the macro setting and no flash. The real tricky thing for me is to be able to capture both color and luster on MS toned coins. I havent figured that out yet, it's either one or the other depending on the light source. When taking photos of my album I use 2 light sources. I don't have the specs on my camera, but I can give them to you when I get home if you'd like.

Nice, you must have a bunch of ebay Bucks to make all of these purchases. I just signed up, seems like a good program.

Wheatguy I just recently signed up too - I have about $4 so far. No where near enough for coins like those!
