It commemorates the royal visit to Canada (eh), properly a medallion.

I'm jealous of Dollar. Mine are all beat up from being handled by too many generations of Ugly folk. Then again, I've never made a concerted effort to buy a nice one.

Added to list, this post reminds me of how truly nice they are.

You can find them in many bargain bins of Canadian dealers at the shows here. One of these in bronze was given to every school child in Canada at the time. There were presentation pieces in gold and silver. You can find them (bronze) for less than $5 quite commonly, worn ones for a buck or so.
