I found this coin while going through my wife's fathers estate coins. It looks to be a Peace dollar but it has no year on it, the "U" in TRUST is a "U" and not a "V", it is a strange matte finish, on the back instead of stay "E PLURIBUS UNUM" it says ".999 FINE SILVER, where the standard Peace dollar says "ONE DOLLAR" this coin says "ONE TROY OZ.". Also, when you turn the coin over the back is upside down compared to the standard Peace dollar. There is also no artist mark on the front under the head and no mint marking. If someone knows what this is I would greatly appreciate some enlightenment on this coin.

it's called a silver round, and has never been currency, though it looks like a Peace dollar, it's not. The value is maybe a bit above spot. It's basically like a silver bar

Gonna agree with the previous answers, except to say that it *might* contain an ounce of silver.

If there isn't a date on it, then your guess is as good as mine. Like others have said these were privately minted, most likely in the millions. Most likely there is no way to tell when or how many were minted unless there was a assay or batch number on it and even then you would have to contact the company that produced them for that info. They could be still minting them today.

I don't think many silver round manufacturers date the coins because that'll mean new dies every year. There's different dates for different rounds (a lot of different refiners make a lot of different) so the best guess is to look at the striking quality.

Even if there is a date on it, your guess is as good as mine. :)

it is just a silver round, Peace dollars were not .999 percent pure silver. This would just be worth what ever spot for silver was worth on that particular day and plua maybe a dollar or so if you liked it
