I got the following coin:

Nerva---Silver-Denarius

The man who sold it to me was not sure if it is real or a copy and neither was I. What do you think?

I'd have to say "not genuine".

The coin has an overall "fuzzy" appearance typical of a cast copy, but such an effect can also be created by corrosion or sloppy cleaning. For me, the clincher is the fact that the "TR P COS" titles appear on both sides of the coin - and the numbers are different on the two sides (TR POT I COS II on the reverse, TR POT II COS III on the obverse). It's like having a coin dated 1984 on one side, and 1985 on the other - there's no way a "mule" like that would have been possible. I think the reverse might even have come from a coin of Trajan or Hadrian, or had it's legend modified from a regular Nerva implements reverse.

Well, at least I got it cheap and I guess it is useful to have a copy so one knows how it looks...

And what about this one:

Nerva---Silver-Denarius

It is supposed to be a coin of emperor Tiberius of around 30mm in diameter. It it is genuine I would very much like to buy it but I don't want to be fooled so I need to be sure.

Well, is it authentic or not? The auction is closing soon so I would be much thankful for relatively fast replies.

Hidden, you night have attracted more attention if you'd started a new thread with the second coin, rather than attaching it to a thread about a completely different coin.

As for the authenticity of this coin, I can't tell. I can't even tell which language is on it, whether it's Greek or Latin. Personally, I would not buy it just from those pics.
