One the tellers has the above 2 notes. They are both green seal NY fed. However the 1928A has "Redeemable in Gold on Demand..". The 1934 does not have this clause and from my DD looks like one of the regular first issues. Also the 28A may have been a special issue (not sure) with the gold clause.

Both notes do not have any tears, holes etc. They are your typical circulated notes in good condition.

Any idea of the value on these 2 bills? (High low range from any books or pricing guides) Also any history behind the 28A would be appreciated. Thanks

Peace

It's a gold certificate. Hard to explain.
Like a silver cert, but for gold. Search "coinage act of 1873" for more info.

28A is not a gold series. Do you mean 28?
Either way, it is probably worth over 200$. If you can get it for face, BUY IT!

The 34 is probably worth around 110-120$.

Paul, although the 28A is not a gold cert it has the "GOLD" clause. This was some sort of special run. Also my DD indicates that this was not supposed to get into circulation. We need a historian to answer this one. BTW, these notes belong to the teller and I am doing some DD on her behalf.

Look at this pic for what I speak of about the gold clause.

Thanks for the info

Oh, it's an FRN.
A NY Gold FRN has a book value of a bit over 200 in the condition described.

It may be a special issue. Pics would help a lot.

I had five of those last fall a teller saved for me. I was about to take them back to the bank after searching for a buyer for almost two months. Finally found one and sold them for $120 each.

Tim,
Are the $100 tough to sell as they are higher denomination and is a big nut (lack of a better term) to carry around?
Thanks
