My new microscope arrived thirty minutes ago, so the very first shot I took was this 1840 Rupee which has been plaguing me for months.
Can anyone please tell me, is this KM #457 or #458 and which variety thereof?

Hi,
it is KM#457, but you could post larger and complete images

It is KM#457 for the head of Victoria is more stretched out and the obverse legend is not divided by her head. But if you'd like us to pinpoint the variety you need to provide us with a better pic of the reverse (larger and complete) with all the "berries", "diamonds", etc.

Thanks svslav, after some delicate negotiation with the microscope; this:

I get the feeling that my photography skills may have reached their limit.

The image is better but still not good enough. I believe we're dealing with 19 berries, and if I had to choose between "large diamonds" or "small diamonds" I'd go with large (the difference is minuscule). But we also need to know what letters (if any)are present on the (right) ribbon bow and what initials are there on the truncation on the obverse.
