I just picked up a dansco for 5 sacagawea I had on hand.. 2000 P&D, 2001 P&D, & 2005 5 P. I was just wondering if anyone knows how difficult it is to put this set together from circulation. Those 5 coins were just calling out for a home.

i think the mid 2000's weren't released into circulation. Only way to get wa in rolls from the mint. I've gotten all the way up to 2002 from circ.. and then starting again in 2009 I think. They made em for every year though.

I don't know, but there are a lot of "Not Intended For Circulation" Kennedys that you can find just from roll searching.
Those years where they weren't made for circulation, just like the Sacagawea coins years, you would think wouldn't be easy to find that way.
I would say to just go down to your bank and start getting some rolls of "mixed dollars" and see what you can do.

We had a garage sale over the weekend.....and I got a dollar roll from the bank for change. I was surprised to find P & D 2009 "Corn Planter" Sacagawea's and several from 2000, along with a really good mix of the Presidents......all within just one roll of coins. The ones I found were not NIFC's, I know, but it made me wonder still !
The condition of most of these were "iffy" I must say though.
I want to put this album together as well........but I want the best quality coins in there possible, especially in spending the money for a Dansco versus a "push in" folder !
If one was just going to do a "folder"......and only P&D....then these circulated ones that you'll find in the wild, would be fine in there.

Eaglefoot, all the coins you mention from that roll WERE made for circulation.

The 2002 - 2008 Sac dollars were not made for circulation and were only sold by the Mint for a premium. But some collectors who bought rolls and bags did dump them into circulation after searching them. So while it IS possible in theory to collect them from circulation it probably wouldn't be easy. Your best chance would probably be in a city that has a major mass transit system that takes the coins as a fare.

I got ritt all my "Gold color" coins from circulation.
They all started discolored (Brown). Besides, the gold layer is too thin, too sensitive to any scratch. The scratch took the layer off, it become "white". I will suggest you to buy UNC, make sure never been touch by human hand. Not from ebay, because you don't know. Unless in Mint cello or roll. Now, it is not too late in the game, you still can get them fairly inexpensive. If you notice it later, it might be too expensive to replace them.
