Just another day for me. Up at 3AM, work at 4, out at 1PM. Then back home to stare at the monitor for a while. Of course, some of the nicest steaks I've ever scored are marinating as we speak, there's a bottle of excellent wine chilling, and the kids are with their father.......maybe it'll be an OK holiday after all.

I have always believed in the reasons we Americans celebrate the holiday, and have always held it in high regard.. In the last couple of years I have gained a whole new respect for it.. And I even Admit when the National Anthem is played I stand Tall locked at attention with a big Salute and some tears for all my brothers and sisters who have sacrificed so much for the Ideals of this Nation. And I am proud to stand with them.. Also on a lighter note ( This was the first real year my daughter has appreciated them ), her amazment and wonder in her eyes and all of the WOW!! COOL's that she displayed was one of the best time I ever had watching her.. AND HAPPY 4th of JULY to you all and peace to everyone who may or may not celibrate..

I spent a few moments remembering why we celebrate this day some of the family and myself gathered around the TV to watch the space shuttle launch. Then we had a cook-out and set off some fireworks. A real feel good day for me.

I tell you I am one who really overlooked Independence Day until one September Morning when I saw two airplanes hit two of the largest buildings in America. Since that day I have had a very different outlook on the american way of life and what it means and what it takes to keep it that way. To see everyone come together in the months that followed that day raising their flags proudly wether it be in the slums of NY to the suburbs of California I think everyone (if atleast for a little while) understood what the cost of freedom actually was. I have had 5 neighbors join the military since that day and have talked to each and every one of them totell them how proud I am of them and that if Uncle Sam would take me I would gladly be right there by their side. Then there were the songs that talked about the horrible day in them and each of them always to this day brings a tear to my eye, wether it be about the day itself or about the people that are out there to make sure it doesn't happen again. Since that day the Red White And Blue have a whole new meaning for me and I express my feelings every chance I get. I took my daughter to feed the ducks at a local park and up pulled a gentleman in uniform and he just got out to watch the ducks, he didnt say a word but I felt I had to go up to him and tell him how much I appreciated what he was doing for me and my family, and it wasn't but about a month and a half later I saw the guys picture on the local news, he was one of the latest casualties in IRAQ and I thought back about the look on his face when I told him how much I appreciated his sacrifices and now he has given the ultimate sacrifice for all of us, I am just glad he knew someone here really did appreciate his work. I took my daughter tonight to see the fireworks and she is 6 and just doesn't understand the meaning behind the whole thing but again it seems to hit a sore spot in my heart and I have to fight back the tears when I think of all the brave men and women we have there away from home and even though they are scared they somehow pick up their guns and dust off their boots and keep marching forward. I can only hope that someday I can sit down with my daughter and explain to her how important these men and women are to our way of life and how much they give up for us all
