Has anyone seen this on ebay? I ran across this reading on another Forum today. There was a picture of the slab,a SEGS holder with a reprodution of a 1793 Flowing Hair Large Cent.(a link was not provided but the picture was) It was "graded" MS67 or PF67 I can't recall. When did TPG'S start this stuff? Should I submit some slugs and knockouts and see if I can get them graded? Mike [:0] This is a link to another seller that is listing some SEGS Slabbed coins that are replicas as well (thank you Susan) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...5775786&rd=1

SEGS has also started grading the proof-like replicas. I saw it yesterday. As far as I know, the respected TPG's are not doing this.

Shame on SEGS! It is one of the many reasons why I would never submit coins to them. They don't even put "reproduction" on the slab.

BTW, the TPG's really need to focus on grading and authentication first. Between the First Strikes and Jessica Lynch signed slabs, these companies will do more of a diservice to the numismatic community by promoting "fluff" slabs instead of something we all want: Consistent grading, authenticity, protection and display.

Segs like most of the grading companies concentrate on how to make money. They are a business first and foremost. Until the coin collecting community demands better we will have to suffer with what is available.

Now that is just wrong! Anyone notice the ending date for the auction? Hopefully this high bidder knows what they are bidding on and won't get an April Fool! Somehow I doubt it....
