First, NOT JUNK! Look up the current spot sprice for gold (<----).

Second, this is considered as a basic 1oz gold bullion.

As to the company who produced them, meaningless. The prospector is an icon of California's gold rush pan miner known as a '49er.

you could sell it to a coin dealer, jeweler, pawn shop, as of today its worth about 1200$, you should expect to get arround 1100$ but not less than 1000$

That will be your best bet. Call around though for the best estimated prices since gold fluctuates and so does the buy and sell prices. In New Braunfels, TX a former customer told me that a pawn shop was offering her $50 for her 1oz American Gold Eagle. They saw her coming as a newbie. Do your homework before selling. See the spot prices.

Don't settle for less than 8% under spot. A dealer will probably sell for about 10% above spot. I should know, I used to work for a local coin shop.

Do NOT sell that coin for under spot price! Engelhard bullion brings a premium in the marketplace and with gold at $1230 right now you have a valuable piece.

You could get spot price for it from APMEX but you pay the shipping.
