jg86 Pillar of the Community Canada 686 Posts	Posted 05/14/2010 10:57 am The "doubling" is due to the die being re-engraved. On this coin here, the 1 and the 2 on the die had been re-engraved, which is how this happens. It is not an issue of the coin being struck twice. The 1962 nickels have various forms of the re-engraving. I find at least one of these a month going through nickels, and the 1 and the 2 being re-engraved appears to be most common. Some of the coins have had all of the digits in the year re-engraved. But yes, this is the variety, or at least one of the varieties. Report this Post to the Staff

I'm sure you'll find one. jg86: Thanks for the detailed info. The word Elizabeth also is doubled on the other side.
