Contemplating buying a 1948 D Jefferson nickel PCGS MS64FS Omaha Bank Hoard. PCGS price list has the coin valued at $25.00, and past Heritage Auctions have sold between $10-$18. I have been following such auctions in this case on ebay and have found that the whole mystic of the story behind the "Omaha Bank Hoard" tens to ramp up the price of the coin just slightly. I wonder if this is worth the extra money. I would like to hear from the community and their thoughts on this subject. Thanks!

They do seem to carry a slight premium. Rather odd, that. The Omaha Hoard is a huge batch of coins - north of 2000 BU rolls' worth - and its' release depressed a lot of previously-scarce Modern issues. It's my opinion that there are too many Omaha Hoard coins to fulfill the supply/demand equation, and they won't be carrying that premium into the future.

Yes, this is a repost. I posted to the modern coin forum for a large response to the question.
