The coin has never been cleaned. What you see is what he fell into, when he was thrown from the brahama bull he was riding, while wearing the buckle. Dick

That's quite a fancy belt buckle, deserving of a shiny coin within. While this guy is no big fan of cleaned coins, that 1922 could use a good "scrubbing." Acetone is fine, but I'd go all out with jewelry dip on the coin, too. Even harsher cleaning, like silver polish, won't decrease the value of this silver coin that has no value beyond melt. Well-cleaned and reset in that buckle, it'll be an eye-catching ornament.

I'd suggest getting the 90% money out of it and investing in a Peace dollar that hasn't been in a belt buckle. Welcome to the forum. Always need to check on the belt buckles, because some of them even held gold Liberty coins. That's back when money was money. BTW, I really liked the ebay comment. How true.

as was mentioned above 100% acetone (not the regular finger nail polish remover) can get that glue residue off without causing any damage to the coin or toning

Hi Nathan and , your post would probably attract more attention if you created your own topic. However, I will try to answer as best I can. 1922 is the most common year for the Peace dollar. In circulated condition it will be worth its silver content, 0.7734 oz with a value of $28-29.

Nathan, All Peace dollars display the motto "In God We Trvst". It is not an error, just a stylized version.
