That's awesome! I had the same thing here. I hit a coin show last Saturday and will be going to another this Saturday. I'm chomping at the bit!

I hardly ever get the opportunity to go to coin shows, so to hit two in two weeks is a lot of fun. What's even better is that I've been off work on two weeks vacation so I've got all the time in the world! It's like all the planets came into alignment or something! LOL!

I just did a Google search and found this site:

http://www.coinshows.com/

It had accurate info for the ones in my area.

I don't have the link I use with me here at work, Ian. I will check it when I get home and let you know. It lists lots and lots of coin shows all around the country, but not always. In fact, it did not have the coin show listed for this weekend, only the one for next. I found out about the one coming up first from afcop13, but then found it listed under a local clubs website.

I was going to try my first coin auction this evening but don't feel up to taking the drive. It's over a hour each way. I found it on http://www.auctionzip.com/

Are prices pretty reasonable at coin shows or do they try to take you for all your worth? I've been to some but didn't know enough about prices to buy anything.

Two coin shows in two weeks? You lucky dog!

There used to be four a year in my area. Now there are just two.

Anything else requires over an hour drive. I just missed one this month that was about 90 minutes away.

The best thing about coin shows is that there are a lot of dealers competing for your business. Do not be afraid to shop around. Also, do your homework ahead of time; know what prices you are willing to pay.

I use a local coin club's web site for show dates and times. coinshows.com has no details for California. I would suggest typing into Google something like 'your city (or a city near you) coin club'.

I have been a collector for 33 years and I have yet to go to a coin show. Isn't that unbelievable? I wish I could find a coin club in my area. Any ideas how I could look one up? I looked online but either did a poor search or there weren't any?

I'm hosed on coin clubs, too. There are 2 in my area, one holds meeting 2nd Tues of the month at 7PM, the other on (I think) the 3rd Thur of the month at 7 or 8PM.

Problem is - I work nights from 10AM - until ? (usually 9-10PM).

Ian, or anyone else interested, I get my coin show info from https://www.collectorsweekly.com (kept drawing a blank at work).

Under the logo in the top left is a link for events, but I had to click on US coins first, then the events link. The first time I went there, it automatically knew what area I was interested in. Hopefully, it does that for you.
