Anyone know the names and denomination of these coins? They are in envelopes marked, "Asia - Unknown."

If it's necessary to post the second side of any coin, please let me know...I didnt want to more overwhelm this post than it already is.

Thanks,

Jim

I'm impressed and grateful, thank you. It's too early here to be rummaging around my office for the coins and my scale. I'll get to that asap.

Don't know what they are but they look like they are Chinese. Too bad I didn't have a Krause World Book. If someone in the community does they could look them up.

First one is an old script Japan 5 Yen. The date is on the back.
2nd is a wartime Japanese 1 Yen. Date is also on the back :D
3rd is a wartime 10 sen. Date also on the back.
4th is I think also a 10 sen from later in the war. You've got it upside down, by the way. Date is Showa 19, which is 1944
5th is :O THE COVETED FAT MAN DOLLAR! This is a 1914 Chinese silver dollar with Yuan Shikai. It's quite commonly counterfeited. Wonder if yours is real...
6th is a cash coin from Qianlong Emperor, Beijing mint. 1735-1796

Post the reverses up and I'll give you the dates. Do you need KM numbers for these? I'll dig out the Krause and look them up for you if you'd like.

Hello j_h_s, I think that #5 is not the Dollar coin because of the size of the dentils - I expect it would be 10 or 20 cents - these are far less often counterfeited. Let us know the size - diameter and weight

I don't know why people call it the fat man dollar/coin. Yuan Shikai or YSK is fine enough. I agree with swamperbob, it is not a dollar denomination coin when I first saw it. High chance of being real.
