Apparently a new ebay policy will take effect July 1.
Sellers will be required to better describe what they are selling!

I think part of the problem is the size of the problem. There are currently some 416,000 US and 43,000 Canadian coins listed on ebay, from uncountable sellers. Many of them are scammers, many more probably just misguided. Factor in the extremely gray area of what constitutes "good business," and you have what I think is an unclimbable mountain.

Yes, there are egregious offenders, and yes, I'd like to see ebay do something about them. And yes, they won't because of the money.

There's also the problem of trying to define what a full description of a coin would entail.

"Up for bids is a lovely coin folks. It's round and made of metal, bears the effigy of some important person and makes a lovely tinkling sound when dropped. I'm extremely confident this coin has not been degraded by bombardment with particles in an atomic accelerator of any kind. I'm going to grade this coin "R" for round and leave it to you to decide if you want to spend it not when you get it. We will accept returns if this coin is found to be too brittle or not round"

This issue I think relates to software/movie piracy.

No matter how hard companies try to prevent it, people will find a way to sneak around any preventative measure to still get their way. If you want it bad enough you will find a way.

And if people will buy your fake crap it gives more incentive.

Also, Education is the key right?

Its like drugs, take a way the (ignorant) buyer, the seller has no reason to deal it (no ignorant buyers to scam)... they move on to the next scam.
