well this is cool, and I'm much more enlightened on the standing liberty quarter- I do see now that besides a few rare dates this wouldn't be such a bad series to collect ( or break my bank )-

prices on auctions seem to be fair, with quite a few buy it now's at around 5 bucks with free shipping

I'm going to look into these more, educate myself more about them, and just might start trying to pick up a few common dates to begin with

this place ROCKS !!

Be careful twincam, Lady Liberty, on both the SLQ's and Walker halves, sings quite an irristible siren song.

LOL I'm finding that out already

when I had the chance today I bid on a few ending auctions, of course I got outbid on them all.. found a couple right before I left the house, bid - won both auctions while I was at work ..

stopped at the flea market and picked up 4 on the way into work , so with the auctions ( 2 and 3 ), I am going from zero to 9 in a day

That's a good point, Moe - it must have been certified some time ago. I noticed the slab doesn't appear to have the latest colored sticker type on it?

Well, I called around and what they told me at NGC is that they do not grade any dateless coins regardless. I called ANACS up and told them my situation and they confirmed that they will holder my 1916 if they see the same die markers that you all did, so I will be sending it out to them this week.

That is good news! I didn't realize the two TPGs thought that differently about no-dates.

I'm sure they'll certify it for ya, Nod!!

(I'll save the fruit for afterwards!)

I have a question - What is the highest grade known of this coin? And it is rare because there are only 52,000 made right? that is what I read on another thread

Here is what I have found out on the "Creme de la creme" 1916 SLQ, from a PCGS perspective;

The finest Uncirculated examples graded by PCGS were 2 MS-66 non-Full Head examples and 3 MS-67 Full Head examples.

The coin isn't necessarily rare. There are plenty of them out there and you can find one you like quite easily if you have the money. But yes, it is expensive due to the somewhat low mintage. The main factor is supply and demand. There aren't that many 1916 SLQ's around, and many people collect them, making the demand for these very high.

I'm sure Nod's will grade at ANACS, and it would at PCGS too.
Rest in Peace

Awesome man, what a coinkydink, I just filled out the paperwork to have mine sent to ANACS too, and was planning to send it out this week. Hopefully they won't get suspicious being bombarded by dateless 16s... While you still have the coin in hand, you should take a picture of the reverse for us. Been waiting on that for months..

Nice! Yeah, yours is just a tad stronger than mine detail wise....so methinks you have a better shot at AG03, very solid FR02.
