Differences In Two 1956 Lincoln Wheat Cent / LWC

freewheel Valued Member United States 123 Posts	Posted 05/23/2010 1:47 pm I bought these from a friend and they almost have proof-like finishes, however, the first penny has a nice bright copper color while the second only at best has a copper sheen. I am sure it hasn't been cleaned so why the difference in color and also what would you grade them? Thanks. Report this Post to the Staff

They look different because one is a philly and the other a denver issue. They used different planchet stocks. Lincoln Cent Lover! EDIT - I'd run them both through the polarity ladder to see if you can get that hazy residue off. Soak in this order: 1) water 2) acetone 3) xylene Lincoln Cent Lover!
