Great article. Thanks Coin News.More power to PCGS to get these *** Edited by Staff | The bad word filter is in place for a reason. Bypassing the filter and making the intended word obvious anyway is completely unacceptable. *** out of the grid.

The timing on this announcement is interesting (in a positive way) because of the state of affairs in collecting as a hobby and technology advances as a whole. I was thinking about how it would be possible to use the new industrial lasers to not only remove surface imperfections but to impart the illusion of mint luster on certain coin alloys.

It's a crime when people use these techniques to defraud others.
Rest in Peace

I would only hope that the other grading services would follow PCGS's lead. Kudos to them for helping to protect the hobby for dealing with the "bad words".

If PCGS doesn't win, there will be a slew of libel lawsuits filed against them.

What part of "the rules are there for you, too" don't you understand?

What in the world does the Staff forbidding you to use foul language on the forum have to do with our opinions?

I'm glad that PCGS is doing this. It is a step in the right direction to protecting little pieces of history from being damaged or destroyed.

Huh? That is a perfect description of these people. Hiding peoples' thoughts behind a red line doesn't make it any less emotional. They are exactly as described and I know my family would agree, and hopefully yours.People that steal and rob deserve that description, and more, for turning this hobby into a "duck and shoot" experience Dave.If you don't agree, sorry.

In the lawsuit, PCGS lists a number of doctored coins which they graded and then had to make good via their guarantee. Part of their requested judgment is that these and other doctored coins in the possession of the defendants be "delivered for destruction" to PCGS. I'm quite bothered by this language, and hope that it doesn't mean "destroy" in the literal sense. Even doctored, these coins are still part of history, some of them very rare.

Halfwitty, your opinion is not the problem. Any reasonable person would agree with you. I do.

Your choice of words is the problem. We prohibit such words here. That's all. You tried to use them, and then having been stopped you tried to circumvent the filter to use them anyways. There are equally expressive ways to speak, in more polite language.

Use them.

From your post I have to believe that you have a very strong ethical position concerning right and wrong good and bad, believing that I also now have to wonder why those ethics do not apply to the rules of the forum?

and why the staff would earn disrespect from you for enforcing the rules of the forum?

The use of swear words on this forum would quickly put it behind a wall such that junior collectors with parents that utilize things like net nanny and other software will find themselves unable to access it because of adult content.

I used NO swear words. That's the clincher.I left it to the imagination.*******People who alter coins to make a monetary enlightenment deserve every adjective that is available in all languages.
