I bought this coin forever and a day ago when I was new to dark side coins. Though I should mention that nowadays I stay away from problem coins with verdigris. So how would you grade this one? Also, what kind of net grade would you assign it based upon the presence of verdigris on the reverse (and a wee bit on the obverse)? Thanks!

Since it kept you into the collecting experience,
ya have to rate it AU.
As an overall AG-3

wwhitman- Thanks for the input! I can understand it having a net grade of AG, but what would grade would you assign the details? I'm thinking that it is a fine in that regard.

Archraz,
I have a hard time giving any coin anything above
good that has no rims.
So Good-6 is the best I could do.
But then again, you rarely find these in any condition at all. Most examples of the half penny are pretty well circulated.

wwhitman- Very true that these do not turn up that often in better grades, but in the case of this coin, one must remember that the face was often weakly struck, the hair was very stylized in a raised- edge relief pattern, and there pretty much was very little rim even when MS due to how they were struck.

Based on the overall details of the coin, I would grade it at F-12.
