When I got this coin many years ago I had graded it BU. But alas, there was a tiny rip in the cellophane coin holder and it has oxidized the face quite a bit. The face is dull and there is much toning on the obverse. I would like to get some opinions on grading this.

Also this Arnprior only has one and half waves under the Island. The half is very faint and barely registers in the photo. Couldn't find it in the books.

I also wanted to boast about my pictures! Dang, these came out good - want to post them with the photo group. Canon SLR, CU diopter and Florescent lighting rocks!

I blew the image up, but my eyes are playing tricks, is there a die break between the T and I on the obverse? Toning won't affect the grading and while it makes luster harder to see, if it's there it's there. Some people prefer toned coins, I do.

Overall it looks like a weak strike. MS-60/61.

Very impressive observation! Indeed when I look at the actual coin its quite clear like a little streak of welding. What is a die break? Does it influence the grading?

No Grading the same..Die Break means as it sounds the die broke...you are seeing a crack in the die :-) ...big price difference.

As CRF said, the version with the die break is much more sought after upwardly affecting price.

range is 175-225 if I'm right about the grade. MS 63 is roughly 400 book value.... no idea where trends is at, too lazy to look.

Just for a little further explanation, when the die cracks or breaks, the tiny void left in the die will show up in the finished coin. As the die designs are incuse (or engraved), metal from the planchet is actually squeezed up into the die crack, which results in the crack being raised on the coin, and not looking like a "crack" as you might initially expect.

You guys are amazing! Thank you so much. Just spent the day preparing a dozen of these one silver beauties to go to PCGS. In the meantime I have some lesser coins going up on ebay tonight under Capnbidwell. Would really appreciate your wise criticism on my ads if you have the time.

Sorry, I hope I didn't cross a line here. Please delete my last post if its a problem.

I must say that one member has already been very helpful pointing out how I broke ebay policy by mentioning insurance in my ad. I will have to modify the wording in my ad to accommodate what I think is an unfair policy about about offering shipping insurance.
