What do you think is going on here? Weak strike? Filled die? Both? I don't see much wear on the coin. How would you grade it?
Thanks for help!

And another thing, now that I'm looking at it. Do you think it's KM 3.1 struck at Heaton (would there be a MM?) or KM 12.4 under the heading "Local Coinage"?

OK, here's a bigger pic if that helps. Opinions anyone?

On the KM# issue. I noticed a slight difference in size. 3.1 is a bit below 25 mm, 12.4 is a bit above that. Provided that Krause's scans are accurate (?) mine is KM 12.4

With the strike issues I still would appreciate your help. Thanks.

Hi, bobo,
Yours has a nice full strike, and a part of the legend on mine just disappears. I'd like to know how it might have happened.

I totally agree with bobo13 in that this coin is probably EF or AU. Just remember that colonial coins often were poorly made since quality control was very low in the colonies. (In fact, for colonial coin collectors such as me, it is at times more of a challenge to find examples that do not have defects/ mint errors). So all in all a nice coin!

So, could we say it's a filled die?
