The Peanut's coin thread got me wondering what you think is the ugliest Canadian coin. Please post a picture. It has to be a coin with 'Canada' on it (not made for other countries by the mint) and can not be a medallion. I'll have to think about this one as I just came up with the thought.....

OK, I put some thought into it and here are 4 that I dislike (but would like to own!): Picture is based on a painting but still ugly to me No disrespect to the Queen Mother but its a bad likeness. Probably why the coin sold so few (thus making it rare) The best they could come up with for the commonwealth games? Since this is a 2010 release, I'm kinda scared to see 2011

Yeah the Queen Mother needed a gin and tonic in her hands.
A lot of the coloured coins disappoint me actually. But I have to say I really really don't like that twonie maybe because it's supposed to be a "real coin"

All the colorized and hologram coins are generally disappointing. There are exceptions.
For regular coins, I'm not a big fan of the Queen's effigy since 2003.

Most of the Calgary olympic coins, all obverses that have the current portrait, the 2010 olympic mascots, the baby coins, the moose with sunglasses, the hockey team coins, both millenium medallions, international year of the volunteers, the milk token triangle, plus everything Iaconic mentioned and everything else goofy and cartoonish.
edit: it's actually the Montreal olympic coins I despise, not the Calgary series.

1cent, that means you don't want to buy a couple dozen sets of the 28 coins then?

The Montreal Olympics coins are interesting I think, just expensive now.

Ugly, I'd take the 73/74 mule if someone gave it to me. The other ones, not so much.

One of my UNfavourites in circulation are the 2000 series quarters. The ones that say community, pride, etc. Good concept, but hard to depict on coins. The designs didn't look that great.

I hate the coin in my display pic. Also, laconic's post of the Queen Mother coin is terrible.

Queen Victoria is a dog on any coin, I don't like the '67 dimes mackerel, they could have used something nicer like a salmon or trout or a Newfie clubbin a seal, now that would make a nice dime! And last but not least any coin made after 1999 that is made from plated steel. We no longer have coins we have cheap chunks of plated toyotas for our currency. We have been duped! Leaf PS how many hundreds of posts do I need in order to create a signature?

all coins from late 2003 on - I don't know why they replaced the queen with Nixon
a special mention goes to the queen mom coin - the ugliest portrait ever

T_y, Nixon for the queen is close, with a bit more hair that would be a perfect match. This took a while but I think the ugliest would have to be the milk coin: Also close in the race is the 50 Cents Soccer coin. The font is weird and the players are in confusing positions. Finally, the snowman... just didn't work for my kids. The dinos did far better.
