Hello All,

This is my first post. I have 2 Morgan dollars (1879 and 1921 D). I looked at some on ebay and I must say they look better than all but a few on there. I have researched the past couple of hours on proofs and what not. Is there anyway I can tell by looking at them if it would be worth the time to have a pro check them out?

Please Advise....

if you will post some pictures we have some real pro's at grading here, especially with the 1921-D, it may be a super rare variety and be worth alot more than a regular 1921-D in the same grade

I can try to help you to the best of my ability. Does the coins surface have a mirror surface? Are there any abstracting blemishes on the obverse or reverse? IS the eagles feathers worn?

well, I am not sure what you mean by "mirror" (I have seen this term a couple times and I am not sure what it means). I certainly cannot see my reflection lol. After comparing mine to others online, I have noticed that it is in really good shape. All of the lines on both sides distinct and clear. There is a slight discoloration over the U, R, and I in PLURIBUS that gives a more gold/rust blemish when held under light.

Since I don't know the lingo about "mirror" and "worn", I should probably get pics posted ASAP. From what I can tell, I don't think they are special or different from the others so I will see if you agree.

Well,

My camera won't let me get a good clear photo but I contacted a local dealer and said he would be happy to take a look if I wanted to bring them by. Thanks for the help and I will let you know if it is a good one!

ok, just be aware 1921 has alot of varieties and some are pretty collectible and you may want to get a second opinion on what ever the dealer says about them. Some people also tell the dealer that the coins aren't for sale also that way they have no reason to try and hoodoo you and tell you your expensive coin is junk
