Hi - new to Coin Community -this is my first post so apologizing in advance if I do this wrong.
I am looking for a reference to help me determine if this coin is a proof (or not).. will there be a special mint mark or detail to specify proof status? Thank you.

If you can post a picture of this coin, it will be alot easier to answer.

Thank you but I do not have one. It is KM 10.2, it's silver .90 and very shiny but doesn't have the modern frost of a proof coin. does that help?

Some coins are so excellent looking they have a prooflike appearance. It may just be a very good strike BU.

I am not sure if Panama has a specific mint that mints proofs only like we do in the US or not, heck for all I know we may mint the Panama coins. But someone with knowledge of their coinage should be able to tell you (if it is the case like the US) what mint mark it should have to be proof

Well, you have nailed a Low Relief, There wouldn't be a Mintmark indicating PROOF,

PROOFS Must BE SPOTLESS and normally old PROOFS are encapsulated, YES even in 1962.
If yours happens to be a PROOF, It'll be worth $500!
TKC!

BUT If its not its worth $3.00
