I'd have to see the coins but the price for either is a touch high. I recently bought a 1910 $10 in PCGS MS61 for $820 after the 8% Bing Cashback. The seller has more available and it is sight-unseen purchase, but I'm happy with what I got.

9 times out of 10 though, I'd prefer an AU-58 over an MS-61. They just have generally better eye appeal imho.

The NGC vs. PCGS thing means nothing to me. In this case, I would go for the coin with better eye appeal. If they are both fairly equal, I'd go for the less expensive NGC slabbed Indian.

I understand that point. Often high AU coins have better eye appeal than low MS coins. Not 9 of 10 though.

Anyway, I don't want to steal this thread but.........I really wanted to get a certified MS $10 Indian and didn't have the funds to spring for a choice piece so I took a stab at something I rarely do, bought the slab! Got a decent one I thought:

I'd like to point out that I don't recommend purchasing coins as I did with this Eagle. Although in the old days of mail order buying it was done all the time, today we should have good, high-res images of coins we buy online.

This purchase was the only time I have ever bought a coin sight-unseen and when spending $800+ dollars, that is risky. The link I posted earlier (from which I bought this coin) is for buying a PCGS MS61 $10 Indian. You don't know what you're going to get other than the posted info and of course, the assumption it will be a common-date.

With PayPal protection and return privileges, you do have some piece of mind but many 61 are beat up, ugly coins (as johnny54321 noted). This one was not.
