Bought this from a little old lady that said she used it as a book mark. Should I try to remove the acid from the paper? 3 years ago, it was a light yellowish brown tone but now the toning is turning black. Still has some luster. How do I save the coin? The coin is still silver colored. I'm having trouble with my lighting. Going back to incandescent.

I'd let it soak for a few minutes in acetone then rinse it under cool, running water. Pat dry with a clean, lint free cloth.

Try to get some better pics also.

If acetone isn't taking it off, it's probably not worth trying any more. It actually looks pretty decent to me. Nice coin!

As I stated on an earlier post. I played with the white balance. It really does'nt look this good. I did think it had a decent strike. One gentlemen thought it was an MS-62. I thought he had been drinking. Come to think of it, so was I.

There are many other options to improve the appearance of your coin but I hesitant to recommend any for a coin like the 1921 Peace dollar.

Okay - I give. One product I've had success with is Lindner's Coin Cleaner:

It is pricey but does a good job. Just remember to soak only! Do not rub the coin in any way. Rinse under cool running water after soaking then carefully pat dry.

Good Luck!
