After using acetone is that considered a "Cleaned Coin" ?

No, using an organic solvent such as acetone is not considered cleaning in the traditional damaging sense of the word. It will not directly affect the metal or the patina of a coin and it will only remove surface contaminants.

Yes. I don't like the idea of removing a coins toning. I like my coins to look natural, so to me anything done to a coin to alter its appearance is cleaned. That's my 2 cents.

I don't think acetone will remove toning, it never has on any of the coins I have used it on.

Most coins needs the surface contaminants or dirts to be removed before putting it on an album. Because these dirts might even damaged the coin if allowed to stay for a long period. just soak it for a few minutes...allow it to airdry...no wiping... and that's it. Toning is still there

Right.. acetone will not affect a coin's toning. You could keep it in an acetone soak for weeks with no effect to toning whatsoever.

I probably should acetone *every* coin before putting into a 2x2 (some people do) just to remove anything on the surface that would affect it over time in storage.

acetone is not cleaning, and will not remove toning.
