Besides "Morgan Fred" or "MorganFred" (I haven't decided which moniker I prefer) based, of course, on my fondness for Morgans, I also use "K2FRD" on some forums and lists. K2FRD is my ham radio callsign. I also earned VO2FS, my Canadian callsign, specifically with a Labrador prefix since I have almost a second home up there.

Well, I was always facinated with Ciscokid, the thief/bank robber/killer in the ole west, I have used it and Cisco in 1 form or another, CiScO for short etc. but mainly my real born given handle was Francisco, I always thought it was kinda a sissy name so I chopped off the "Fran" part---- ;)) ----therefore Cisco was born----

Thanks Mike, actually my real name now is Frank--When I join the Army in '69 they asked me "What do you want to be called?"---As stated above, Francisco with the yanks woulda been tuff in basic training bro...

Well Frank, I can respect that decision! My real name is Robert Michael, but I always went by Michael Robert! My parents had intended to change it legally but never did. My Drivers License had Michael Robert on it as all my school records to that point were under that name. Well I opted to leave it as on my birth certificate when I went in the Air force in 1972,and have used it that way ever since. However family and freinds never stopped calling me Mike! Now speaking of basic training we had a recruit named Castro in our flight and the T.I.'s, (AF term for D.I.'s) most having been around for the Cuban missle crisis had a field day with that poor soul!

OK Mike, Here it goes; I've been involved in buckskinning most of my adult life. As you probably know at a rendezvous their are all kinds of contests, shooting, hawk & knife throwing, overland races & wilderness skills. After some work I got pretty good at tracking & not leaving any sign as I went through the forest. There is a game that is played where you track the other man & then he you. Marking his sign along the way to a prearranged site. After winning this contest a few times at some smaller local rendezvous, the reigning champion who was sponsoring this contest, started to get kinda grumpy. He & a couple of his friends started grumbling about not letting me enter. Someone asked him why & this old boy said "cause he don't leave no tracks." And the name "No Tracks" stuck, all those mountain man have names anyway like, Lone Elk, Gray Fox, Red Wing ect... so this name was alright by me. Anyway when I went to open an ebay account the name No Tracks was taken so, I just switch it up a little. The buckskinning community is really great, I highly reccomended looking into it if anyone is interested in that sort thing. It is a very family oriented activicty with games & contests for everyone, folks helping each other & showing the newbies. Just like HERE, it's pretty cool. Dave

Dave, I must say that's a fascinating way to earn a nickname! I am not familiar with "buckskinning" accept as a word. It sounds like it takes quite a bit of practice to be competitive and based on the events sounds like a form of an olympic type game. I'm wondering if it is a regional or national orginazation. Thanks for the story, after all your "nickname" inspired this posting! Mike

Mike, There is hundreds of regional groups all over the world. The big national group is the American Mountian Ma butt. They put on the big rendezvous every year called the Nationals. It moves from place to place every year. If your interested do a Google search under, buckskinning Dave

I first started out as "Dreamerchant" a greek storyteller in ancient times. Then people kept asking if I was a drug dealer. I got tired of trying to explain. My friends always called me catman because I loved cats and have four of them. So, to make my life simpler I changed my name to catman. catman steve

I'm kinda curious about Mila_cent's name! It's a cute play on words. Longnine- I've always wondered about yours, but I guess I should've known it would have something to do with the Lincoln Cent. I'm surprised you're not BIE or something like that! Rachel [:p]
