It is a reproduction and not a genuine coin, but the jeweller's hallmarks stamped into it indicate that it is likely to be made of gold. There are two little moon-and-stars symbols, one on each side, which were not used on genuine coins. The moon-and-star on the reverse side appears where the regnal year normally goes.
