This post is not intended to incite a debate about the value/wisdom of registry sets ......... but rather a status for your comment of where I stand in my collecting goals.
I admit that I find these classic US silver coins fascinating

...... a wonderful mix of great and poor design, history, political intrigue, greed and all the mixed good and bad elements of being human.
I decided a while ago that a worthy goal is a complete 50-coin US Silver Classic Commemorative type set ...... and after a few (expensive) newbie mistakes I have settled on a clear set of criteria for my set ...
No toned coins

Well struck
I take the opinion that I have established clear collecting goals and am doing all I can to educate myself and purchase coins that fit my goals.
Soooo .... the PCGS registry thing is not the driver ... for sure technical grade without respect to my goals is a non-starter .... but I see the PCGS system as a fun way to see where I stand against the greatest collections of all time .
Soooo ... all that said here is where I am so far ..... 2/3 of the way there by coin count .... and still a long way to go.
http://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/pub...s=68538&ac=1I'm doing this the old fashioned way ..... visual inspection of each coin for quality and grade, learning all I can about all of them, sharing what I learn with all of you, and paying fair prices for what today are expensive coins.
FWIW .... Current Numismedia FMV of my 2/3 complete collection is $26,300 ..... this is an expensive set to pursue.

Comments, suggestions (and free coins) are welcome.
