I am not sure if this is the correct forum to post but in case if it isn't I am sure the message will be moved to the correct area. I bought these coins in Austria two years ago in a flea market, they were not sold as real coins so I was not out much money (about $50 for 8 but I am only posting 4 here. The others are all foreign coins.) They all weigh exactly the same, 19.1 grams. They do not feel right when you hold them nor do they have the sound of silver when dropped. I am sure many of you do visit flea markets looking for coins so be, very, very careful when buying coins or anything that looks old as it most likely came from China!

I think we, at some time or other, have come across fake coins and maybe bought them. I think we should all share photos of any fakes that we own to bring awareness to the community. Maybe there should be a subforum in which to do so..........

Well for sure the second two aren't even accurate counterfeits, I'm pretty sure the second one isn't a real design either... Can't remember the reverse of a seated Lib Dollar.

The last two aren't even fakes, they don't exist in reality so they would be fantasy pieces. At 19.1 grams, you should be able to feel the significant difference in weight but the color is also indicative of cheap white metal(and potentially toxic if it contains cadmium or antimony) and not silver.

Not everyone will be familiar with the designs of coins like this but most anyone should be able to weed them out based on weight and color. However, the designs are all wrong as well. The IGWT motto was not added to the reverse of Seated coinage until 1866 and Bust Dollars were struck on screw presses, not in a collar so the rim is completely wrong.
