Last week auctions netted me two buyers who are paying by echeck through Paypal. These are foreign buyers so they will take two and half weeks to "clear".

In addition Paypal charges fees twice - first time on the payment and then when the cheque clears.

Yes, they are a general pain. I used to keep track of what pp was taking out, but it got too depressing. I didn't know about the double wammy.

My pending echecks won't clear for another couple weeks - I was going by my wife's experience with the second fee. I hope I am wrong and scubu is correct.

The time to clear an echeck seems excessive to me. Banks use electronic verification these days.

She likely saw the regular fee on the initial transaction, then the conversion fee when it cleared and thought she was getting hit twice.

I have had a few echecks in the last couple of weeks and they only took 3-4 business days to clear, much quicker than I expected but a pain nonetheless.

I state in my listings NO E CHECKS! I guess the people that use them can't read.

They can probably read, they just don't care because they know full well you're not allowed to refuse them. ebay will pull your listings for that statement if someone reports you.

Please point out the ebay section that specifically forbids that.

Just go to your paypal profile and select payment receiving options and look at the section on blocking eChecks...

NOTE: You may not block eCheck payments on ebay.

If you don't believe ebay will yank your listings for saying it, give me one of your item numbers and I'll prove it to you.

You know I asked nicely. Your response was rude and inappropriate. If you can't back up what you say please refrain from posting false information.

I'm sorry you didn't have the time to look for yourself. Took me all of about 30 seconds. It's been that way for years.

http://pages.ebay.com/help/pay/accept-paypal.html

Quote:
Important: If you offer PayPal as a payment option on ebay (either using logos or text in the item description) you must accept all forms of PayPal payment including account balance, bank account transfer, and credit cards. You must have a Premier or Business PayPal account - or be willing to upgrade from a Personal PayPal account to a Premier or Business account - if you receive a credit card payment. You may not communicate to ebay buyers that you will only accept specific forms of PayPal payment (see PayPal Payments Policy).

Better?

YOU SURE HAVE A VERY BAD ATTITUDE. We're suppossed to help each other here. Yet all your posts are filled with snarky comments. Please provide me with your ebay user ID so I can block you as a buyer. I Never want to deal with bad attitude types.

My first comment was not snarky. (That's why I put the winky guy there) But hey, when your response was to accuse me of being full of crap (when its really you that is) when you could have went to ebay OR Paypal and found the answer yourself in less than a minute? Yeah, a bit snarky.

"winky guy" does not take away from your mean spirited direct threat to have my listings cancelled. Why won't you give your ebay name? Afraid?

No seller here wants someone like you that will 'report us' for overcharging four cents on postage. I bet you're the guy with no credit card, that pays only by echeck. That's why you know that rule!!

You have that typical 10 year old mentality. Instead of being a man and admitting you were wrong, you deflect back on me with more accusations and silly baiting. My original statement was a joke, you just took it wrong and over reacted.

I couldn't care less if you take echecks or not. I don't understand why anyone wouldn't even if you weren't forced to. Big deal, you have to wait a little for your money. You don't ship until you get it. So what? Your business gonna fold if you have to wait a few days? I take any bid I can get, and any type of payment they want to send me. That's what most business people do.
