Some one was asking if anyone recommends using Eagle Coin Holders. Can't find the post anymore but I have lots of experience with them for Silver Eagles and non of it was good. You had to assemble the top and bottom edge rings, while balancing the coin between two pieces of mylar, and threading the mylar sheets into the tangs (for lack of a better word) onto the edge rings. Oh ad I forgot, you needed a few drops of clear nail polish to seal the thing. Don't know if they still have that model and don't care anymore. Too many other great airtight products out there. In my opinion, the container promotes edge toning and you might not want the problem getting nail polish on you coins. I included pics of some of the results.

Larger coins such as silver eagles and large dollars do require gluing. A most undesirable aspect indeed. I wonder if this was responsible for the toning on your coin. (?)

I have found smaller coins to be easier to put together but am concerned about the coin sliding in an album that sits upright. Gravity. I think this may have occurred with just a couple of the coins I have holder-ed up.

I am using Eagle brand pages.

There doesn't seem to be a great deal of discussion surrounding these holders. Anyone have comments?

I do not recommend these holders for the said larger coins. Coin edge works well with these, IMO. The downside is the indentations in the holder to keep the coin from rotating within same look like rims hits to me. Not so bad on the larger coins.

Comments?
