Last night I had the pleasure of meeting Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. I know this isn't a coin related post but since she's depicted on our currency and since many collectors here seem to be Monarchists, I figured it would be of interest here. I haven't stopped smiling since last night.

Well, I just got back from Queens Park, and I tried to meet her. Walkabout was scheduled for 11:40 am and we jockied a good position at 10:45.
Through the pure ignorance and selfishness of others, I wasnt able to see much. Savages were butting infront of us, because we left 1/2 square metre between us and the people in front of us. I told one person that what she just did was rude and these are skills that you learn as a 5 year old, and went on to say she must have been a disappointment to her parents. I closed the conversation with 'your a real role model lady'
Holding a camera above our heads to take a picture was futile as everybody else in front of us was doing the same thing and we couldnt get a clear shot.
It was hot enough outside without that aggravation, and a great disappointment to us both.

It's really unfortunate that you had a negative experience Dollar. Some people just have no manners. I had the opportunity to shake hands with both her and her husband (and the Prime Minister and his wife) and I've been on cloud 9 ever since. It all happened so quickly I don't even realize it happened until it was over.
Here is a picture of a friend and I posing with the hockey jersey presented to Her Royal Highness by Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

Right on splatto....what a memorable experiance for you. Congrats.
Ive cooled off a bit now...I love the queen as well, heres a woman I admire because of her ongoing comittment to do what she does best.
She's got a tough job..theres no doubt about it.
It amazes me that she can still smile again and again during these walkabouts, and especially during that blasting heat the last couple of days.
Id love to share a beer with philip and crack some 'unpolitically correct' jokes.
Im hoping that I can get another chance to get up close to her, however one never knows if its in the cards, based on her age. Then again her mom made the century club.
I hope she never retires and just lets Charles wait and wait. I think she promised just such back in 1953.
