Hey I was thinking about buying one of these off ebay but I have lost my price guide for coins. I was wondering if you guys could tell me if a 1947 dot nickel is rare and would it be worth alot in close to ms condition.

The dot is a caused from a pit in the plating of one of the dies,there is a variety of these in the 1947 quarter also.I believe all the dot varieties(1936 small cent and 1936 10 cent),are worth something.Did you ever buy this coin,and did you get a good deal on it?I keep my eyes open for these,hoping for the day I get my hands on one. :) sn31.

ya it tends to be a popular coin, because the "dot" is located in the exact place where the maple leaf is on the 1947 Maple Leaf nickel.

I got a 1947 Dot nickel in change from a store and saved it thinking it was worth money, good to know it was
